The remainder of your bill can be settled when you leave Blesfontein. Please note: we do not have card facilities available on the farm.

Unit 1: Old Farmhouse (north)

This unit is fully equipped for self-catering and consists of two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room with a built-in braai (barbeque) and a bathroom with shower.  The unit can accommodate up to five guests with one double bed and three single beds.

Unit 2: Old Farmhouse (south)

This unit is fully equipped for self-catering and consists of one bedroom, a kitchen, living room with a built-in braai (barbeque) and a bathroom with bath.  The unit can accommodate up to four guests with one double bed, one single bed and a sleeper couch.
Rates: R360 per adult, R150 per child under 12

Please note that for extended families the doors between Units 1 and 2 can be unlocked so that the Old Farmhouse transforms into one big house with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 kitchens.

Unit 3: The Honeymoon Cow Shed

This is a large open plan stone building offering self-catering for a honeymoon couple or family of four. With a luxurious round bath surrounded by candles for the peace and tranquility only the Karoo can offer, this is a popular unit. The Cow Shed offers one double bed and two single beds.
Rates: R400 per adult,  R150 per child under 12

Unit 4: The Milk Stable

This old stone unit used to be our milking stable. It offers one double and two single beds with a little wood stove in the corner. The bathroom has a shower. Guests have use of our communal kitchen.
Rates: R330 per adult, R150 per child under 12

Unit 5: The Calves Stable

This unit used to be the stable where the calves were kept at night - away from their mothers (next door) to prevent them from drinking all the milk. During the day they were left out with their mothers to drink as much milk as they wished.
The Calves Stable is now a fully-equipped self catering unit, with a double bed, a single bed and a bathroom with shower. There is a fire place/inside braai, and a beautiful view from the bedroom.
Rates: R 360 per adult,  R150 per child under 12

Unit 6: The Hay Stable

Self-catering unit for family of 4. This used to be where the hammer mill minced the hay and lucerne for the cattle to eat.
The unit consists of a living room with single bed, a bedroom with a double and a single bed, a bathroom with shower, own kitchen and indoor fire place. Spectacular views across the farm enhance the remote feeling of this unit, which also looks out on the not-to-be-missed Karoo sunsets.
Rates: R360 per adult,  R150 per child under 12

Unit 7: Second Honeymoon Suite

This unit was not one of the original stables, but is a newly built stone building to complement the surrounding stonework in the kraal.
The unit offers a double bed, a single bed, and an open plan bathroom (separate toilet) with a big oval bath. Fully equipped for self-catering, it is spacious and situated high in the wall of our old stone kraal with lovely views.
Rates: R360 per adult, R150 per child under 12

Unit 8: Farmhouse Annex

This self-catering unit is situated next to the old farmhouse and is ideal for a couple with one child. With one double bed and a single bed, en-suite bathroom with shower and fully-equipped new kitchen with inside braai/kaggel, it's comfortable and central.
Rates: R360 per adult,  R150 per child under 12

Unit 9: The Rondawel

Picture
This is a quaint old round stone hut with its own kitchen and bathroom with a shower. Fully equipped for self-catering, there is one double bed and two single beds (bunk bed style) in the rondawel, as well as a fireplace.
Rates: R360 per adult, R150 per child under 12

Unit 10: The Diner

This lovely unit used to be a communal kitchen/dining room for the farm and has been converted as a spacious open plan bedroom/sitting room, with a separate big kitchen with a large inside fire place. There is a separate bathroom with a shower. The patio overlooks the farmyard. The Diner is ideal for families, with one double bed and 3 singles.
Rates: R360 per adult,  R150 per child under 12

Unit 11: De Hoop - isolated winter house

This is a very primitive old Tanqua Karoo house, totally isolated and without service. Ideal for the nature lover who needs to get away from the city, there is no electricity and no cellphone reception. In days gone by, the landline phone was only available when the baboons had not broken the line. The farm offers complete privacy.
De Hoop is located 65km from Blesfontein itself (closer to Cape Town) and offers four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and a kaggel/inside braai. There is a wood stove (“donkey”) which guests can use to heat water for bathing.
As this farm is remote from our main farm, guests need to bring their own food and beverages, linen, duvets and towels, own toilet paper, soap, dishwashing liquid, etc. There are no meals offered as De Hoop is completely independent and remote from our home farm.
Firewood is available for purchase at De Hoop using the honesty system - keep a record of what you have used and feel free to EFT Blesfontein what you owe us.  :)
Rates: R150 per adult, R50 per child under 12

We have a small farm shop that sells items like eggs, milk, sweets, cooldrinks, chips and braai packs. We are also proud to sell some of our local wine from the small but award-winning Sutherland Wines.

Firewood

Firewood can be purchased for R30 / 10kg bag. The firewood in our units is not included in the rates for the accommodation.

Other supplies

Blesfontein sells our home-made jams and preserves in season. All other supplies can be purchased from the local shops in Sutherland. We highly recommend the Sutherland butchery for Karoo lamb.

Cellular reception

There is MTN signal at the farmhouse, on high areas of the farm and on parts of the road between Sutherland and Blesfontein. Vodacom and Cell-C is only available in Sutherland. There is wi-fi at our hotspot on the farm.

Pets

Please leave your pets at home - Blesfontein cannot host strange dogs because of our resident animals and wildlife.

Blesfontein Guest Farm in Sutherland Received an Afristay Certificate of Excellence Award.

Please note: Blesfontein has lots of farm animals and resident wildlife. We love to have you interact with them but please leave your dogs at home. Blesfontein is not pet-friendly.
